Philip A. Hibberd
Philip A Hibberd was born in Harlow, Essex. At the age of eight he and his parents moved to Palmers Green, North London where Philip attended Hazelwood primary then Oakwood secondary schools. His school career was cut short at the age of 14, when his Master informed his parents there was ‘no point’ for him to continue. His parents were not pleased.
Upon leaving school Philip became an apprentice gas-fitter with the Gas Board and at the same time was sent to Paddington Polytechnic college to upgrade his qualifications. Five years later he emerged with two distinctions.
During his career he rose from engineer to technician, then to Area Manager. In a yearly middle management shuffle, he was offered a teaching position at the British Gas Academy.
After qualifying as a teacher, he stayed in education for twenty-three years.
At the age of sixty-five he took early retirement to concentrate on his real passion, writing Science Fiction.
