Manitoba July Heppingstal was born in Yorkshire in April 1956 to Gladys, chartered accountant wife of research chemist Thomas Heppingstal. From an early age Manitoba showed a fascination for all things scientific. He excelled in physics and biology and after high school in Hull he studied at universities in Scotland and Canada where he was awarded first-class degrees in both subjects. He is an emeritus professor of cell toxicology.
Manitoba lives with his second wife Mitzi Bamberger and their three border collies, Ruff, Scruff and Snuff, in a converted barn near Windermere in the English Lake District. They have an open house for their many visitors including their seven children and five grandchildren. Manitoba and Mitzi share interests in walking, cycling, tennis and astronomy, and they have recently converted part of the upper storey of their home into a well-equipped observatory.
Although he has authored many scientific papers, GOD KNOWS (or Sorbo Grundy) is Manitoba Heppingstal’s first published novel.
