Dr. John Anakwenze
Dr. John Anakwenze was born in Okwe, Nigeria in the early forties. His father, a head teacher, died when John was very young. He struggled badly in the early part of his education but eventually won a scholarship to study medicine in the College of Medicine at the University of Lagos in Nigeria. His medical training was interrupted by the Nigerian Civil War. He qualified as a doctor in 1973 and was employed as a junior doctor in Enugu Specialist Hospital, Nigeria from 1973-1976 before going to the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies on East Central State Government Scholarship. John went back to Nigeria in 1985 and lectured in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Nigeria teaching hospital from 1985-1990. In 1990, John moved back to the UK. He is a retired Locum Consultant in Geriatric Medicine.
John is married with seven children and enjoys reading and traveling in his spare time.
