Chin Sheng Yang
Chin Sheng Yang was born in Taiwan and adopted at birth by a mason and his family. Growing up in poverty around the time of World War II, he did what he could to help his family survive, working as a peddler selling vegetables and candy on the street and a coolie, carrying bricks for his adopted father’s masonry projects, while also working hard at his studies to improve his circumstances. When he was offered a scholarship to study in the United States, he moved to California to further his education. Attending UCLA and USC while working at night, he made a name for himself as an engineer, eventually working at Boeing in Seattle and later Bechtel in the Bay Area. He managed, through hard work and determination, to build a successful career and develop an impressive real estate investment portfolio, raising his situation from a childhood of poverty to a prosperous and successful life in America for himself and his family.
