Phillip Methula
Born on a farm in the one-horse town of Amersfoort in the province of Mpumalanga, South Africa in 1961, Phillip Methula is the fourth child in a family of ten. He did his undergraduate and post-graduate studies at the University of Zululand and the University of the Witwatersrand respectively. He was a teacher and an education specialist and is currently managing funds for social investment projects across a broad range of areas such as education, health and community and social development.
It was the political violence in South Africa in the early 1990s that gave him the desire to write about how the political forces have shaped his country and this has culminated in ‘When Life is like a Dream’, which is one in a series of six plays which depict this.
Phillip currently lives in Pretoria with his wife and two children.
