John “Peter” Thomas spent his early days in Swansea, but after his town was blitzed in World War Two, his family moved to Cae-Newydd Farm in Garngoch Common and later to Trafle Lodge, Stafford Common. While at the farm he lived directly opposite the Garngoch collieries, which at the time were in full production as part of the war effort. Peter Thomas has lived and worked in Hull, England, all his life. Born in 1958, Peter married Tina with whom he has two sons. William Thurl

William Thurl was born in Salford in 1946 and educated at Weston Primary and Hitchin Boys Grammar School in Hertfordshire. He obtained his Honours degree in German and French at King's College, London, in 1969. He has taught at schools in Stockton-On-Tees and Hertford, the latter for over 20 years, and now works occasionally as a Supply Teacher.
