Hendrik Hoitinga was born in Leeuwarden in Friesland, the Netherlands, and emigrated to New Zealand at 10. After travelling extensively during his teens and twenties, he married his wife in Auckland, before relocating to the UK. They have two children. Hendrik worked in retail for 26 years. Jacques Huinck, born in 1935 in Maastricht, the Netherlands, was an independent photographer and filmmaker. He won the Prix Nièpce in Paris for his photos, received a travel grant to Hollywood for his first film and made 36 short features for a psychological faculty. Abdirisak Mohamed Hussein was born in 1968 in Burao, Somalia. He settled in the United Kingdom as a refugee where he faced some adverse times. He lacked adequate support from the community when he became mentally ill. Peter James Hutchinson was born in the Yorkshire city of Doncaster, a former mining centre, minster and market town in Northern England, in 1986. He attended Park Primary School in Wheatley from 1991 to 1997 before going on to college to study the performing arts – he achieved high grades in both drama and dance. Lucy Jefford was born in 2007 in Hertfordshire, England. She is still a student today, and her latest book is titled ‘Elouise’, which she wrote when she was 13. Lucy won the 2020 Pearson’s Short Story Competition and earned a place in the ‘My Twist on A Tale’ short story competition’s anthology and wrote ‘The Four Realms Trilogy’ at the age of 11. Her favourite activities are writing and playing sports (especially hockey, netball, athletics and cricket). She also does ballet (having recently taken her Grade 6 exam) and plays the violin.

Magnus John was born in 1937 in Freetown, Sierra Leone. He moved to England in 1959 where he trained as a librarian. He worked in the civil service and thereafter at the Open University in Milton Keynes. After early retirement, he went back to work as director and head of the Institute of library, information and communication studies at the University of Sierra Leone until finally retiring in 2004. Magnus is a widower with two daughters and two grandchildren who he loves to spend time with. He enjoys travelling and reading.
