J.A. Kay

J.A. Kay lives in the lowlands of Scotland near Kilmarnock and draws much of his inspiration from the legends and history of a nation filled with wonder. Brought up on the west coast of Scotland, Kay completed secondary education at Greenwood Academy in Dreghorn. He was fortunate to have the author William MacIlvanney, the Scottish Novelist and short story writer and poet, as his English teacher in the 1970s. His success inspired Kay to put his own stories to paper. When not looking after his granddaughter or spending time with his wife and two adult children, Kay is a member of CAMRA, Campaign for Real Ale and has published articles in their local award winning magazine. With over thirty years of service as a Police Constable under his belt, Kay has a wealth of experience which informs his intricately woven tales. It was while working within a highly emotive and traumatic situation that the tale of the Mythical Highland Haggis was born.
